On the surface, this looks like an ordinary photo of a popular attraction in Washington, DC. I shot this in 2023 and was immediately drawn to juxtaposition of this small boy the Washington Monument. At this precise moment, he walks along the completely carefree with his stick that disturbs part of the water in the 2,028-foot long Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. A green sweatshirt hangs loosely over his shoulder. He heads toward a crowd, just doing his thing. Meanwhile, the Washington Monument towers 555 feet above. The U.S. Capitol dome (288 feet high) emerges to the side.
